    Did Jake just say nobody likes to stack??? HEY!!!! Jake I love stacking wood. When I was a little boy not long ago about 8 years old my Father would have me stacking wood in full cords not face cords. My job was to stack the wood so that it does not fall. After I stack it my dad would come check it out and knock it over then say stack it again this time do it right. I would then restack it and tell my Dad it was done he would come over check it out and knock it over and tell me son I said do it right. After stacking a few times you learn to do it right . By the time I was 10 nothing my Dad could do to knock over the stacks and the reason he did this was to teach me how to stack so no one would get hurt after it was stacked. But what I did with out telling my dad was I was also stacking wood for my neighbor and he was teaching me how to stack . His way of teaching me was fun. Stacking wood is like putting a puzzle together. Every piece has it's place you have to find that place look over the stack look at the pieces of wood plan ahead know what your move is going to be if you have an odd piece use the small pieces that you have left on the ground to level out and make it a tight fit.

    Hudson is right in my home town. A cool piece that I’ve been thinking of is they are the North America Uniforest dealer. Uniforest makes some pretty cool processors I like the design of. Hudson could probably make a power pack to go with it though because the Uniforest is a tractor powered machine which in my opinion is the biggest downfall.

      @@DudeRanchDIY currently only pto and electric motor options from anything Hudson said and I can see on Uniforest site. Hudson offered to build a power pack to go with a processor if I wanted to buy one but I really wanted them to encourage Uniforest to have a mounted engine for the North American market but we’ll see if that comes in the coming years.

    First off I’d like to see one of those Chinese processors like the Range Road 300s and being loaded by one of the Chinese mini skid steers. You can get them so cheap. I wonder how they would work for you. Now if that hook slipped off under load wouldn’t it whip at ya? Also, I know metal cables that snap can kill folks when it whips. They make rope that can go in the winch that if that breaks nobody gets hurt. I still think a set of log tongs is the way to go. Even if it occasionally slips off it is just so easy to put back on. That hook is pretty sweet upgrade though. Thanks for the video

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY 6 днів тому

      I’d be interested to try one of the range road processors. I agree with you, I think HUD-Son should change out the steel winch cable for synthetic winch rope for a number of reasons. The hook worked well, just needs some beefing up!

      @nickharrington6326 7 днів тому

      what suggestions would you give for its improvement?

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY 6 днів тому

      I think it’s been pretty well designed for what it is. It’s not really intended to be a “high output” machine. With some tweaking to certain aspects, I think the process can be streamlined and be made a little less “clunky”. The few small changes I suggested for the winching seemed to really help speed things up.

    • @peterisner7215
      @peterisner7215 6 днів тому

      It appears from the video the machine was not leveled (bar oil in container). If it was a little more tongue down, it may of helped with those first saw cuts on the long poles. Also a peavey would straighten out the log to the machine with little effort, still wouldn’t need a tractor. This machine would be nice in an area where you pull to woods with truck, fell and process in the woods right into the back of the truck or large dump trailer. Then leave with the machine again. I like to leave the chips and branches in the woods, not my driveway.

    • @DaleFarrish-Dalbet
      @DaleFarrish-Dalbet День тому

      Every processor has a learning curve. You have to cut the logs to fit the processor type. For example all those stubs sticking out will not make for quick or easy splitting. Angle of the log makes for angled cuts which means the push plate pushes them sideways and causing jambs. ( the push plate needs to be bigger and have aggressive teeth on it). Biggest mistake is feeding the log backwards, the butt needs to go to the wedge. That is true of almost any splitter or processor. Wedge should always be splitting big end first so that as it feeds it is getting smaller and it doesn't get jammed in the wings. I'm sure that Jake will get the hang of it quickly. My buddy has a Blacks Creek and he was having a tough time with the logs he had stock piled for it as he cut by chainsaw before. Now that he's had it a year he is splitting much faster. I have a Wallenstein processor and I cut and stack my logs to make them work better for the way it runs.

    The only non issue you had was the conveyor, but still some pieces passed over the side, it may be alright for a retired person doing his firewood but it would need to be 8 feet long. But then you'd need a helper just to keep the through full.

      I will say the few issues I had with it this run probably could’ve been avoided had I had more experience with the machine. But at the same time, some things could be tweaked to eliminate the issues I had altogether.

    Hello Mr. Jake. Good Vid. For no more than you have run this you did pretty good, there are tricks to running any machine well, after a couple dozen totes you would have them all figured out, so do not hold yourself too accountable for failure or success of this mission.

    Don't we all need long wood lol .... IMO I feel this is still priced to high I know in my area in the northeast I could get a processor with a live deck that can take 12ft log 20in diameter for 18k ... I think this machine shines where someone select cuts trees and wants to split them right after dropping them and given that I believe wallenstein is a hard competitor here given they're only 18k as well for there cable feed machines

      lol 😂 yeah the price is a little higher than I’d like to see. There are some pretty competitively priced processors with live decks on the market for about the same, although I can not speak to the quality of them.
